I'm pressed for time. I envy my friends who have the time and talent to come up with fabulous treats for the school party. My Panda is having a Fall Party on Friday and I know those said mom's will have some super creative treat to pass out that the bunch of 1st graders will ooh and aah over before devouring it and obtaining a sugar high that would make Willy Wonka jealous.
My mom was that mom. She was a stay-at-home mom and made time to develop the super creative food and craft items for school. I always had the best costumes for the school play and she always made our Halloween outfits. And while I possess the talents to cook and sew, what I am lacking is the time.
This year I decided my Panda and Monkey were going to have nice treats for their respective 1st grade and preschool classes. So I turned to two standbys.
The first are ghost cookies. You need a package of Nutter Butter cookies.
Melt one package of vanilla coating or two bags of white chocolate chips in a bowl in the microwave.
Dunk the Nutter Butter cookies in the the white chocolate, 2 or 3 cookies at a time. Using a fork, remove from white chocolate, letting excess chocolate drop off the cookie, and place on wax paper lined cookie sheet.
Then take mini chocolate chips and place two on each "ghost" for their eyes.
The results should slightly resemble ghosts!!
My other easy treat for the kids friends are ghost suckers. Very simply take any type of lollipop, I used Charms, cover each with a tissue and tie a bow with yarn or string. My girls made these in an assembly line! My Monkey put the tissue on the sucker, Panda tied the bow with string. Very easy and really cute!
So my kids won't go to school with fancy cupcakes or elaborate treat bags. I'm fairly proud of what I made and even happier that they were able to help!
