Cheesy Goodness from Gooseberry Patch, Recipe #2

There is nothing more comforting than a giant bowl of macaroni and cheese. I have loved mac and cheese since I was little and I still do! A nice bowl of cheesy goodness can make a really bad day seem a bit brighter!

When I was searching for recipes to use for my In the Kitchen with Gooseberry Patch project, a partnership with the Real Farmwives of America, this recipe caught my eye.  I'm cooking from 101 Homestyle Favorites, and this is a new favorite!

The recipe is as follows:

1/4c flour
1/8t pepper
2 1/2 c. milk
1/2 c. grated Parmesan cheese
1/2 c. shredded Cheddar cheese
3/4 c. cubed Velveeta
1/4 c. cream cheese
8 ounce package of pasta, cooked

Start by combining the flour and pepper in a small saucepan.  Whisk in milk and bring to a boil, cooking for one minute and stirring constantly.  Except when you have to take a picture!

Reduce the heat and add the cheese and stir until melted.

Boil your pasta

And then mix the cheese mixture and pasta together.  Put into a greased 9x9 pan.  I actually made a bit more pasta and used a 9x13 pan.  Bake uncovered at 350 degrees for 30 minutes.  Oh was this good!

My Baby Boy is One Year Old!!

My baby boy turns one today.

I am so excited to watch him grow but it is going WAY too fast!

My young man has a thing for feet.

And he has a smile that will melt your heart. I anticipate this smile will let him get away with anything as he gets older.

He has two big sisters who adore him....

And sometimes his curly hair has a mind of its own.

But in the end, I couldn't imagine my life without him! He has made our family complete.
 Happy Birthday Baby Boy!

A Kid Friendly Drink From Gooseberry Patch!

I've been absent so long that I'm not even sure where to start. Should I tell you about my crazy summer, full of long work hours and busy projects. Should I mention that we had a hog barn burn down just a few weeks ago. Or that school started way before I was ready for it to. All of it adds up to my absence. But I'm back. And ready to show you what we've been up to!

It's taken me sometime, but I've finally started making recipes from the Gooseberry Patch readers said they wanted me to cook from for our Real Farmwives of America partnership! So I'll be sharing my new fave recipes from 101 Homestyle Favorites over the next few weeks.

My first recipe is called Summer Sparkle.  My kids and I enjoyed this on one of our recent 90+ degree days.  We were sweating faster than we could replenish ourselves so we decided to cool down with a nice beverage.

This recipe was beyond simple to make.  Take a 48 ox bottle of red grapefruit juice, 12 oz frozen can of orange juice, 6 oz frozen can of lemonade, and a bottle of lemon-lime soda (I used diet to cut back on the calories).  Let the orange juice and lemonade thaw and the simply pour all of this in a big pitcher and mix.

My kids loved it!

For something special, pour this drink into ice cube trays and freeze.  Then pop the ice cubes into a glass of tap water to make a flavored water.  I used ice cube trays that have popsicle sticks in them so the kids could then eat the juice like a popsicle!  Those didn't even last long enough for me to taste them.

Blogging Woes

I have hit the perverbial writer's block. I have nothing interesting to write about. Or I don't think I do.

I have plenty of pictures on my camera of recipes waiting to be shared, the first day of school for Panda and Monkey needing to be posted, and pictures of vacation with the family.  And yet I can't find the desire to post them.

Anyone want to give me a swift kick in gear?
